A Collective Investment is an arrangement that enables a number of investors to ‘pool’ their assets and have them professionally managed. Collectives are a simple route to investing in stocks and shares and typically incorporate a number of asset classes, including Gilts, Corporate Bonds, Property and Equities.
Collectives include savings vehicles such as Unit Trusts and OEICs – and your investment can be held inside a tax-efficient ISA wrapper. They can range from single assets, such as UK equities, to funds that invest in a range of asset classes such as Managed Funds or Fund of Funds (see the Fund of Funds section for more information).
A feature which can be used in conjunction with Collectives is a Platform; this can allow you to hold your ISAs, Unit Trusts and OEICs in one place and receive consolidated reports and valuations.
• You can invest monthly or as a lump sum
• Low investment limits
• Wide fund choice
• Competitive charges – typically 1 to 2% Annual Management Charge
• Investment can be held inside a tax-efficient ISA wrapper
• Risk to the capital return
• Not suited for short-term investing
All investment returns are determined by performance, market conditions and overall economic factors.
