As Skipton Financial Services is seen as a respected and professional financial adviser, we are often asked to comment on financial services articles in the national press.

Here is a selection of some of the articles SFS has been mentioned in recently...

Raymond Broomfield, SFS adviser in North Berwick, appeared as a case study in The Mail on Sunday (Sunday 4 July) discussing his pension planning.  The article said Raymond was "a strong believer in pensions, with almost 20% of his pay saved into a string of schemes as he is convinced he needs to save hard as he predicts he will get little support from the State when he is in his 60s".  Thanks to Raymond for his help with this.  Click here to view the article online.

Andrew Barker, Chief Operating Officer of Skipton Financial Services, was quoted in an article in The Daily Telegraph on Saturday 19 June offering guidance to investors considering whether to ditch their with-profit bonds.  Click here to view the article online.

Skipton Financial Services was mentioned in the Daily Mail on 9 June 2010 as being a financial adviser who will review your with-profit bond for you. Note – the article incorrectly says that clients would "expect to pay a fee" for this service. SFS’ With-Profit Bond Review Service is a free, no obligation service.  Click here to view the article online.

Andrew Barker was quoted in article on with-profit bond encashments in The Sunday Times on 21 March 2010.  Andrew was quoted as saying, "Even where someone does not have a spot guarantee, they should still consider moving to a better investment, which will hopefully recover more quickly and make up the MVA."

Andrew Barker was quoted in an article in The Sunday Telegraph on 31 January, recommending that anyone coming out of with-profit bonds invest in fund of funds, saying that he likes Henderson Multi-Manager Income & Growth and Jupiter Merlin Income Portfolio.  The article also featured the case study of Pauline Broadhurst, an SFS client from Macclesfield.  Click here to view the article online.

Andrew Barker was also quoted in The Sunday Times on 31 January saying "Some with-profit bonds have valuable guarantees attached, or guaranteed minimum returns.  But if you do not, our advice is to get out."  The article also featured the case study of Jeff and Christine Knott, SFS clients from Horsforth, near Leeds.  Click here to view the article online.

Andrew Barker appeared in an article in The Sunday Times on 17 January about millions of with-profits policyholders being dealt a blow last week when Aviva, owner of Norwich Union, announced disappointing results. Andrew was quoted as saying: "They [with-profit bonds] used to work fine but nobody would use them today."  Click here to view the article online.
