Financial planning can be a daunting experience, with so much paperwork involved and so many investment types to choose from, but it’s one that can make life a whole lot easier if you have the right investments in place.

Financial planning isn’t about predicting the future - it’s about making the future predictable for you and your family

Our Advisers are committed to finding out what your plans and goals are in life and to help you search the whole of market for the best products available. Be this to help you find the right pension fund, investment, to help write your Will or to possibly help reduce or eliminate a potential IHT liability.

A financial plan needs to be worked out on what you need now as well as in the future and to do this you need the expert help that we can provide. The best way to do this is to meet face-to-face with one of our fully qualified financial Advisers either in the convenience of your home or at your local Skipton Building Society branch.

The main thing to remember is that our advice is provided to you free and you are under no-obligation to act upon what we suggest - no matter how many times you have met with your adviser.

What will I need for my first appointment?

The more we understand your current financial situation, the more we can help you. So, if you haven’t seen us before, it’s helpful if you bring along the following details:

  • Bank / Building Society accounts
  • Details of your salary or monthly income
  • Monthly expenditure
  • Any mortgages or outstanding loans
  • Details of any pension provision if you are not retired, or pension income if you are
  • Details of other savings or investments, such as ISAs, PEPs, Shares, National Savings or other regular savings
  • Anything else relevant, such as endowments, life assurance etc
  • ID (Driving licence - ideally with photo and passport)

At your first appointment your financial needs will be discussed and a document known as a Personal Financial Questionnaire (PFQ) will be completed to ensure that your Adviser has a full and accurate record of your requirements.

They will help you consider how your portfolio can be structured to ensure your finances are working as effectively as possible for you both now and in the future.

What will happen at a second appointment?

A second appointment will then be arranged to present the recommendations to you, but if it appears that you do not need further advice from Skipton Financial Services, a second appointment will not be neccesary.

If you decide to follow our recommendations, they will assist with completion of all the necessary paperwork. Your Adviser can help you to prioritise your needs to ensure that the most urgent ones are dealt with first.

Next Step:

  • All completed paperwork is dealt with by our dedicated Business Support team at Head Office
  • The Adviser will then confirm in writing what they have recommended and arranged for you

How do we make our money?

Skipton Financial Services is paid commission by the companies whose products we have arranged for you. This means that, whether or not you take out a product through us, you do not have to pay a fee for our service.
